Black realtors in Florida — find a trusted Black real estate agent — Black Owned Florida

If you are searching for a Black realtor in Florida, you already know the reason without me having to explain it. You want someone who understands the nuances — the neighborhoods that are genuinely improving versus the ones being marketed as improving, the communities where Black families have built roots versus the ones where you might feel like the only one, the lenders who have historically served Black buyers well versus the ones who have not.

That knowledge is not in a database. It comes from being part of the community. And it matters in one of the largest financial decisions most people ever make.

This page is the most current Florida-specific resource for finding Black real estate agents — organized by city, with real contact information and a featured licensed professional serving Central Florida right now.

What to Look For When Choosing a Black Realtor in Florida

Finding a Black real estate agent is step one. Finding one who is the right fit for your specific situation is step two. Here is what actually matters — beyond the generic checklist you will find everywhere else.

Verify the Florida license — it takes 30 seconds

Go to myfloridalicense.com and search by name. You want to see an active license, the license type (Sales Associate vs. Broker), and no disciplinary actions. This is basic due diligence for any agent, not just Black agents.

Ask about neighborhoods — specifically

The right Black realtor does not just know the MLS. They know which blocks in Parramore are seeing real investment, which HOAs in Windermere are welcoming to Black families, and where in Lake Mary you will actually feel at home. Ask specific neighborhood questions and listen to how specific the answers are.

Ask how they handle the financing side

Most agents hand you off to a lender and hope for the best. The financing side of a transaction is where things go wrong — delayed underwriting, last-minute conditions, lenders who have historically offered Black buyers worse terms. Ask your agent directly: who do you recommend for financing and why, and how do you stay involved in that process?

Read reviews from people who look like you

Google and Zillow reviews tell you a lot. Look for reviews from first-time buyers, from families, from people whose experience sounds similar to yours. A Black realtor with 50 detailed reviews from Black families in Central Florida tells you something that a generic five-star rating does not.

Communication style fit matters more than you think

Some agents are texters. Some call. Some send detailed emails after every showing. None of those is wrong — but there is a right one for you. Have one clear conversation about how you prefer to communicate before you sign anything. A mismatch here causes more stress than almost any other factor in a real estate transaction.

Why Working with a Black Realtor Is About More Than Representation

I want to say this plainly because most articles on this topic either ignore it or sanitize it: the housing market in America has a documented history of discriminating against Black buyers. Redlining, predatory lending, discriminatory appraisals — these are not ancient history. The effects are measurable in the racial wealth gap today.

“Homeownership is the primary vehicle for building generational wealth in America. Who helps you navigate that transaction — who advocates for you, who knows your market, who protects your interests — matters more than most people realize until something goes wrong.”

A Black realtor who has personally navigated these dynamics — as a buyer, as a professional, as a member of the community — brings something to the table that a directory ranking or a transaction count does not measure. They know which appraisers have been fair in their market. They know which neighborhoods are being appraised below true market value. They know how to protect a Black buyer’s interests in ways that experience teaches and data does not capture.

This is not a criticism of non-Black agents — many are excellent advocates for their Black clients. It is simply an honest acknowledgment of what community knowledge and lived experience add to one of the most consequential transactions in a family’s life.

One more thing worth saying: When you work with a Black realtor, you are also supporting a Black-owned business. The commission you pay goes to a professional who reinvests in your community, hires from your community, and mentors the next generation of Black professionals. That compound effect matters.
